The 7th ranked Virginia Baseball Team is preparing to close out the regular season against No. 2 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Heels currently 45-6 have only lost one ACC series, while the Cavaliers at 42-8 have lost only lost a series to two ACC opponents. Both teams have lost a series to Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Many would agree they are the two best teams in the conference, with Carolina at 20-5 and UVA at 20-7 in the league.
Brian O’Connor, UVA’s Head Coach, talked about the matchup on his weekly appearance on the Best Seat In The House. “They’ve sold out their stadium for all three games, I believe two or three of them are gonna be on television. You have from a record standpoint in the league, you have the two best records in the conference goin’ at it in the final weekend. It’s great for college baseball, it’s great for our league, and it’s a weekend we’re looking forward to.”
Coach O’Connor went on to describe the positive implications from a series like this one. ” This is why you coach at this level, this is why a player chooses to come to the University of Virginia or the University of North Carolina to have matchups like this where it really matters.”
