Our region has seen a big increase in homes sales. They jumped 11% in the second quarter of this year compared to the same time in 2012. Denise Ramey of the Charlottesville Area Assocation of Realtors says the median sales price was up, and days on the market were down. There have also been fewer foreclosures and short sales. Ramey says inventory is down, but it’s still a buyer’s market because inventory is still not as low as the pre-recession days. Fluvanna County was the only area to show a drop in home sales, down 22%. Louisa County had the highest percentage increase at +59%. Other areas were Charlottesville +7%, Albemarle +14%, Greene + 14% and Nelson +20%.
