Holton Backs McAuliffe In Contest For Governor

The man who was Virginia’s first Republican Governor of the 20th century is backing Democrat Terry McAuliffe in this year’s contest to be Virginia’s next Chief Executive. Linwood Holton (pictured), who was the Governor from 1970-74, is not a first-timer when it comes to endorsing Democrats. The 89-year-old Holton is also the father-in-law of Tim Kaine, who is Virginia’s junior U. S. Senator, and was the most recent Democrat who won the Governor’s Mansion.
