Governor McDonnell says the rights of nearly 6900 Virginians have been restored during his term. It’s happened for nearly 1600 people during the past three months. McDonnell (pictured) began automatically restoring rights in mid-July for nonviolent felons on an individual basis. His program is not an automatic restoration of their rights. Top aides to the Governor say he’s doing as much as he can under current Virginia law.
