Governor McDonnell’s Son Arrested In Charlottesville

The son of the Governor was arrested this past weekend by City Police. 21-year-old Sean Patrick McDonnell (pictured) was arrested after 1 a.m. Saturday on Wertland Street. McDonnell was charged with the misdemeanor of public intoxication/ swearing. Police accuse him of being drunk in public in the 1400-block of Wertland. City Police Lt. Ronnie Roberts says although the statute for the offense is written as intoxication and swearing, the officer did NOT witness McDonnell swearing. Sean McDonnell just finished up his third year at the University of Virginia. Meanwhile, his dad, Governor Bob McDonnell┬ácancelled an appearance scheduled for Wednesday in Louisa County. The governor was supposed to have a briefing and tour of the interchange construction project at I-64 and Route 15 at Zion Crossroads. The governor’s staff is not explaining why the visit was cancelled.
