Former Volunteer Firefighter In Fauquier Pleads Guilty To Embezzlement

A onetime president of the Remington Volunteer Fire Department has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $40,000. The FBI says 52-year-old William Joseph Stuart of Fauquier County has agreed to a plea┬ádeal. The Bealeton resident faces up to 10-years in prison. He’s scheduled to be sentenced┬áNovember 15th in the U.S. District Court in Alexandria. Stuart has admitted stealing the money by submitting false and fraudulent invoices in 2008 and 2009, and then writing checks to himself.
