Albemarle firefighters are trying to get a new policy that would allow the county’s career people to also serve as volunteers. Preston Gentry (pictured) is the Chief of the Crozet Fire Department. The Albemarle Supervisors got a report Wednesday that describes how other Virginia counties deal with fire and rescue personnel. Representatives of some volunteer organizations say their people were not consulted before the report was assembled for the supervisors. Senior officials, including County Attorney Larry Davis, will do additional research and provide more information later this year.
