Federal Employees Return To Jobs; Most Va. Lawmakers Agree

The partial shutdown of the federal government is over, and most of Virginia’s lawmakers voted for a bill that lets federal employees go back to work.
Democratic Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine approved legislation Wednesday that funds the government through early next year. They were joined by seven of Virginia’s 11 congressmen, including House Republican Leader Eric Cantor of Henrico County. Local GOP congressman Robert Hurt voted against the bill that was crafted by Senate leaders. Hurt was joined by Bob Goodlatte of Roanoke, Morgan Griffith of Salem, and Randy Forbes of Chesapeake.
