Fall Fire Season Is Underway

There is an increased threat of wildfires. State foresters are reminding Virginians the fall fire season has begun. The Virginia Department of Forestry notes the fire season began October 15th. That means residents should be especially careful of unattended campfires and the burning of debris or trash.
Each year, the state sees more than 1200 wildfires that scorch more than ten acres. The department says 95% of wildfires in Virginia are the result of human activity.
