Eleven People Want Dumler’s Vacant Seat

11 people have applied to be Chris Dumler’s temporary replacement on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors. They include former County Sheriff Terry Hawkins, current and former Planning Commissioners Richard Randolph and Petie Craddock, and Albemarle Republican Chairwoman Cindi Burket. The other applicants include Edward Strickler, Anne Bedarf, Prandip Phukan, Nancy Carpenter, Richard Armstrong, Adrian Weselin, and Kevin Quick. Dumler is a Democrat and five of the people who want to fill his shoes are self-identified Independents. Hawkins, Burket, and Phukan are associated with the Albemarle Republicans, and Randolph, Armstrong and Strickler view themselves as Democrats. The five current supervisors expect to choose Dumler’s temporary successor by July 10th. Scottsville District voters will elect someone to complete Dumler’s unexpired term November 5th.
