A ten-year veteran of the House of Delegates is the Democrats’ choice for an upcoming special election for the State Senate. Democrats have picked Delegate Lynwood Lewis of Accomack County over two rival hopefuls to run for the final two years of the term of Ralph Northam. Northam is the Norfolk Democrat who was elected earlier this month as Virginia’s next Lieutenant Governor. Lewis garnered more support than former Norfolk Delegate Paula Miller and Northam aide Andria McClellan, during a Saturday caucus of Democrats. Three Republicans want their party’s nomination for the special election. They are businessman Wayne Coleman, and attorneys Richard Ottinger and John Arthur Coggeshall. The GOP nominee will be selected Thursday.
