Democratic Lawmaker Gives GOP Governor Unsolicited Advice

A Democratic member of the General Assembly has offered unsolicited advice to Virginia’s Republican Governor.    The Virginian-Pilot newspaper has published a letter from State Senator Chap Petersen of Fairfax, who urged Governor McDonnell to “come clean” about gifts from the owner of Star Scientific, or resign.    Tucker Martin of the Governor’s Office says Petersen is being, quoting now, “blatantly political” by sending a letter like that.    Petersen was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor in 2005.
