A conservative publication has blasted Democratic nominee for Governor Terry McAuliffe for his ideas on higher education. The Daily Caller is critical of McAuliffe’s relationship with New York businessman Jeffrey Walker, who wants the University of Virginia to charge more tuition for in-state students. The 1977 UVA graduate favors restructuring the Board of Visitors, so that a future Governor would only select nine of its members. Movers and shakers in UVA’s alumni ranks would pick the rest. The Daily Caller quotes a recent investigation by the Washington Post that alleges McAuliffe (pictured) revised the higher education policy on his website so it would match Walker’s proposal. The Virginia Public Access Project says Walker has sent two $25,000 checks to the McAuliffe campaign.
