Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says a new law that allows school takeovers is unconstitutional. Cuccinelli has shared his views in a letter to Governor McDonnell. The Attorney General says he sympathizes with General Assembly members who want to improve failing schools, but he believes their approach is wrong. Cuccinelli (pictured) says the Virginia Constitution dictates that the supervision of public schools must remain with local school boards. He says he will not defend a law that he believes is unconstitutional. His arguments are similar to the ones the Virginia School Boards Association and the Norfolk School Board are making.
