Cuccinelli, McAuliffe Debate In Northern Virginia

The negative campaigning continued right into a debate wednesday night between the two major party candidates for governor. Democrat Terry McAuliffe (pictured right) and Republican Ken Cuccinelli (pictured left) had a debate sponsored by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and WRC-TV in Washington. Cuccinelli says McAuliffe is more of a political operative than somebody ready to be governor, while McAuliffe called Cuccinelli an ideologue who is tainted¬†by scandal. Cuccinelli says McAuliffe doesn’t have the experience, and being governor is not an entry-level position. McAuliffe says Cuccinelli concentrates too much on social issues instead of economic matters that Virginians are concerned about. The two also¬†had differing views on topics such as gun control, the state budget, health care and same-sex marriage.
