The Crystal Ball, which was created by the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, has updated its forecast for the November 5th election. It now views Democrat Terry McAuliffe as the likely winner of the November 5th election of a new governor. Up until late October, the Center for Politics had McAuliffe’s clash with Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the leans Democrat column. It also views State Senator Ralph Northam (D-Norfolk) as the likely winner of his battle with Chesapeake Republican E.W. Jackson for Lieutenant Governor. The biggest question mark in the three statewide races has been the contest for Attorney General between Mark Herring (D- Loudoun County) and Mark Obenshain (R- Harrisonburg). The center might revisit the Attorney General’s race before November 5th.
