The city will bring an expert on a controversial new program to town. It’s hearing countless complaints about a proposed Rental Asssistance Demonstration, which relies more on housing vouchers. Sabrina Allen, who’s a Westhaven tenant, wants the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority to drop the idea. A local lawyer has scolded the housing authority staff for having bogus information posted on bulletin boards. Jeff Fogel is upset about a notice that tenants can be evicted if they consume too much alcohol, or if they own guns. Fogel (pictured) says that language does not appear in tenant leases. The housing authority will not apply for the RAD program until after it’s heard from an expert. That session is scheduled for November 4th at Crescent Halls.
