Council Makes Decisions About Next Budget

City councilors have decided what to do with a $3.2 million surplus from the last budget year. A little over half of the amount goes to the city’s capital improvement program, and the next budget cycle gets the rest. Finance Director Bernard Wray (pictured) says some revenue sources such as the meals tax did better than expected. The City Police are getting $73 thousand to buy ammunition. City Manager Maurice Jones says Police Chief Tim Longo and his officers have smaller than usual supplies of ammo.
