The candidates for City Council found something to agree on Thursday night. All four say the Rivanna River has a lot of potential. Republican Mike Farruggio (pictured second from left) has heard some citizens voice support for creating a river walk, which is an attraction in other cities. Incumbent Democrat Kristin Szakos (pictured right) says the current council has gone to bat for residents of the Woolen Mills neighborhood when they were fighting a proposal from the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority. GOP hopeful Buddy Weber (pictured center) says prior councils have been offered good deals in exchange for riverfront properties, but they turned them down. Democrat Bob Fenwick (pictured second from right) says there are city residents who would welcome more recreational offerings near the river. The forum was sponsored by Charlottesville Tomorrow and the Daily Progress with Brian Wheeler (pictured left) as the moderator. It was the final forum for the council candidates during this cycle.
