The highest honor from the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce goes to a longtime city manager. Cole Hendrix (pictured) is this year’s winner of the Paul Goodloe McIntire Citizenship Award. Hendrix says a lot was accomplished during his time as the top official in the city, including the creation of the Downtown Mall, the terminal building at the local airport, Pen Park, the downtown library, parks and rec facilities, and Charlottesville High School. Hendrix received the award Thursday night at the Chamber’s 100th annual dinner. The Chamber of Commerce established the McIntire Award in 1975 to recognize outstanding citizen contributions to the greater Charlottesville area.
