Abortion Clinic Challenges New State Regulations

A medical center in Northern Virginia is challenging new abortion clinic regulations. Falls Church Medical Center has filed a lawsuit in Arlington County Circuit Court. James Edmundson of McLean says the new standards are unnecessary. Edmundson and one other member of the State Board of Health voted against the new regulations in April. They were outvoted by other board members, who want to see abortion clinics face the same requirements you find in a hospital. A Norfolk abortion clinic that opened in 1973 is closing this month. Some of our area’s biggest supporters of reproductive rights are associated with Planned Parenthood (pictured) on Hydraulic Road in Albemarle County.
