City School Board Gets Early Start On Budget Guidelines

The Charlottesville School Board has started to create budget guidelines for the academic year that begins in July 2014. The city is about to start a new arrangement with Piedmont Virginia Community College, and the board is trying to keep the costs down. Jennifer McKeever (pictured left) says parents who can afford their kids’ courses at PVCC should pay for them. McKeever, Willa Neale (pictured right) and other board members are coping with many financial issues right now, including unfunded mandates from Richmond. The city is also absorbing a nearly $140,000 reduction in federal funding.
