Scottsville District Supervisor Chris Dumler has resigned from the Albemarle Board of Supervisors. The news came in a letter that was read by Samuel Miller District Supervisor Duane Snow at today’s supervisors meeting. The surprise resignation follows last Friday’s ruling by Albemarle Circuit Judge Cheryl Higgins that Dumler is allowed to keep serving despite a petition drive that wanted to force him from office. Dumler had been under pressure to quit since his conviction on misdemeanor sexual battery. County Executive Tom Foley says the rest of the board must fill the vacancy within 45 days. The board will petition Albemarle Circuit Court within 15 days to hold a special election as part of the November 5th ballot.
