Charlottesville Area Transit will begin a new set of bus routes beginning Saturday morning. Marketing Director Wes Kern says the Route 8 buses are adding new stops. They will begin to stop at the Shops of Stonefield off Hydraulic Road. There will be no more Saturday bus service for Route 1 passengers. The Route 2 buses will make their final runs on Friday evening. CAT riders who live in the Southwood Trailer Park will now use Route 3 buses, and the Route 11 buses will cover parts of the Park Street corridor that have been part of Route 2. The Route 10 buses will start making stops at the Rivanna Ridge Shopping Center, but there will be no nighttime service to the Pantops area beginning Saturday. Belmont resident Lena Saville has told Kern many CAT riders are frustrated. She believes many of the changes are inconvenient for working people. City Councilors approved the new CAT routes in August.
