Boy Dies After Independence Day Incident In Chesterfield County

A 7-year-old has passed away in a Richmond hospital one day after being shot in the head by someone who apparently fired a gun into the air.  Brendon Mackey died Friday at the VCU Medical Center. He was walking with his father Thursday night near a restaurant on the Swift Creek Reservoir in Chesterfield County.  That’s where a crowd had assembled for a Fourth of July fireworks display.  The boy fell to the ground with a head wound and was rushed to the hospital. Chesterfield Police Lieutenant Randy Horowitz says his agency believes the child’s fatal wound was not an intentional act.
