Back-To-School Tax Holiday Starts In Early August

Your chance to skip paying the taxes on back-to-school items begins soon. Virginia’s back-to-school sales tax holiday kicks off on August 2nd, and will last until August 4th. During that Friday through Sunday period, you won’t pay sales taxes on most articles of clothing and footwear that costs $100 or less. It’s the same arrangement for school or office supplies that cost $20 or less for each item. You can find a list of what qualifies for the sales tax holiday on the Department of Taxation website, which is www.tax.virginia.gov.
