The onetime chef at Virginia’s Executive Mansion has agreed to a reduced charge that he took food from the first family’s kitchen. Todd Schneider entered a plea Wednesday to misdemeanor embezzlement charges. Schneider has to write a check for $2300 to cover the costs of the food, but he won’t go to jail. Circuit Judge Margaret Spencer gave Schneider a total of 12 months in jail time, and then suspended the entire amount. Schneider was originally scheduled to stand trial in mid-October on four counts of felony embezzlement. Schneider’s legal problems led to allegations of misconduct against Governor McDonnell and his family.
