A couple of hundred local residents came out for a Wednesday night rally and march in support of the late Trayvon Martin. They braved the rains to honor the Florida teenager who died last year during a confrontation with neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman. Recent City Council candidate Wes Bellamy (pictured) led the chants during a rally near the Free Speech monument. The protesters marched from the area near City Hall to the federal courthouse. Rick Turner of the local N-A-A-C-P believes the U.S. Justice Department should investigate Martin’s death. Turner also favors repeal of the “stand your ground” laws in states such as Florida.
