Area residents have paid their final respects to local developer Gabe Silverman, who died last Sunday in New York. The 73-year-old businessman was buried Thursday at Monticello Memory Gardens. Silverman has been credited with giving new life to older structures. They include the Michie Building on East Market Street, the Frank Ix complex near Elliott Avenue, and the Main Street Market in the Starr Hill neighborhood. Silverman was born in Mexico, and studied architecture at the Berkeley campus of the University of California.
