A facelift for the area near the South River in Waynesboro. They’re using a grant from the organization known as American Rivers to create fish habitat, and they’ll be planting trees and shrubs for shade. Some of the riverbank on either side will be reshaped, and other work will prevent runoff from the lot at Ridgeview Park. Waynesboro leaders hope the work will help tourism and economic development. The South River is on the list of impaired waterways in Virginia.
