Superintendent, School Board Expect To Have Less Flexibility

The Albemarle School Superintendent and the County School Board expect to have less wiggle room with their next budget. The county supervisors will not automatically let the school division use a fund balance for ongoing operating expenses. Superintendent Pam Moran (pictured) says her growing school division faces challenges, including the Virginia Retirement System. Moran and her senior staff are developing a funding request for the next academic year. She’s waiting to hear the recommendations of outgoing Governor Bob McDonnell. That should happen the week before Christmas.
