Albemarle Sets Filing Deadline For Special Election; Burket Expects To Run

Albemarle County has set an August 16th filing deadline for the Scottsville District’s special election for supervisor. The Republicans have scheduled a special meeting to consider nominating a candidate at 6 p.m. July 29th at the main County Office Building. Cindi Burket, who’s a Scottsville District resident, has indicated she will be a candidate for the November 5th special election. Burket (pictured) is the current chairwoman of the Albemarle GOP. Independent Petie Craddock was chosen earlier this month as an interim supervisor, but he will not be a candidate in the fall. Any independent candidate who lives in the Scottsville District must submit petitions and other paperwork by 5 p.m. on August 16th.
