Albemarle Democrats Oust Thomas, Snow

Two incumbent Republicans have lost to their Democratic challengers in Albemarle Board of Supervisors’ races. Democrat Brad Sheffield has defeated Rodney Thomas (pictured right) for the Rio District seat on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors and will take office in January. This marks the third consecutive election cycle when the Rio District gets a new supervisor. Republican Thomas won his seat four years ago by ousting one-term Democrat David Slutzky. The GOP’s Duane Snow (pictured left) lost to Democrat Liz Palmer in the Samuel Miller District. Palmer will be the first Democrat to win the Samuel Miller seat since Gerald Fisher won his final term in 1985.
