The Hoos Trying To Fight Off The Losing Trend
The Hoos Trying To Fight Off The Losing Trend

Virginia Head Football Coach Mike London addressed the media yesterday on a number of topics, but the most important was the team’s mindset and confidence.  ” We are committed to winning…no one wants to win more than I do.  No one wants to win more than the players.  The attitude about that in the aspect of practicing and preparing to win, is as high as it has ever been, because of the opportunities and because of the teams we are about to play.” Three of Virginia’s next 5 opponents are ranked in the top 20, which certainly makes it an uphill task.  The Cavaliers are seeing progress, yet continue to frustrate themselves and their fans with their inconsistency.  While Virginia is 5th in the nation in time of possession and first in the country in third down defense, they have given up 48 and 35 points in two of their last three games.  The offense came out on fire in the first half against Duke, and then proceeded to produce 5 straight three and outs in the second half.  London was also asked about whether or not the record was affecting recruiting. ” Seeing what happened Saturday and how disappointing that was…there was positive news that came out of that weekend.  That an individual who spent time with the coaches, the players, with the people that support the program said I see what you guys are doing and I want to be a part of it I want to come.”  London and the Cavaliers are the only team in the country with two top 10 recruits for the class of 2014, and wins and support are certainly important to maintaining that status.

As far as the players are concerned, they are also highly aware of the importance of turning things around.  UVA tight end Jake Mcgee: ” You wanna bring as many guys with you as you can that let the games mean a lot.  You wanna bring as many guys, like in any environment, that only want to win.”  Virginia will face Georgia Tech at 12:30 Saturday, and our coverage will begin at 10am on WINA.
